I have been hearing this a lot this week.
Take care of yourself! What have you done today to take care of you? What do you do when you get home from a long day to relax and unwind.
I can think of nothing better than unwinding with a good book.
My favourite author, or rather one of my favs, is Alexander McCall Smith. His No 1 Ladies Detective Agency is written with great insight and warmth. The characters have become part of my life and are real to me.
I am so excited that I have saved the last 2 books in the series and that I can now savour them at my leisure. I have no idea when the next instalment will be available so I have to ration the pages.
I could always re-read Andrea Levy’s books. She writes about British life from first and second generation Jamaican immigrant perspectives. There are some scenarios she writes about that could easily have been borrowed from my family. Asking questions about heritage receive the reply “Nuh badder me”. “Every light in the house burning!”. Hilarious!
I was thrilled to discover a beautiful bookshop in Olinda, The Dandenongs – The Faraway Tree Bookshop. Cute name, huh? Even more thrilled to see Chigozie Obioma’s new book on sale. Will be digging into that this weekend. Woohooooooo!
Look after yourself and others around you!
Enjoy the beautiful Autumn day.
